WELCOME TO WESTWOOD ELEMENTARY!
At Westwood Elementary we believe “Together We Can Lead”
Leave a legacy of teaching and learning
Excel in academic achievement and technology
Aspire to be responsible citizens
DEVELOP DIGNITY AND RESPECT AMONG STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY, STATE, AND COUNTRY
We believe in educating the whole child and live by the Aristotle quote, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” We are a Leader in Me, Lighthouse School and teach the 7 habits of highly effective people beginning in kindergarten. Students learn responsibility and how to be a leader in and out of school. Students attend a Leadership Assembly each week to learn more about how to be a responsible leader. We also strive for excellence in education as we teach students to take ownership of their learning by setting and tracking goals and reporting on them during student-led conferences.
Westwood Elementary has about 750 students in kindergarten through 4th grade. We pride ourself on the ability to provide the best possible services to meet the needs of every child and offer the following resources: Special Education, Math Intervention, Dyslexia Services and Reading Intervention, Gifted and Talented Education, After-School Tutoring, two Guidance Counselors, Alternative Learning Environment, Speech Therapy, Occupational/Physical Therapy, Full-Time Nurse, Adaptive Physical Education, and the Leader in Me Program. Students also have the opportunity to participate in clubs such as Chess Club and Westwood Students for Christ.
