Congratulations to the Greenwood Freshman Center Quiz Bowl Team, which includes one eighth grader, finished third in the red division of the 6A Jr. Finals Quiz Bowl Tournament Saturday. 8th grader Gabriel Hensley led the team in scoring and was named to the All-tournament team. Other team members were team captain Jess Henry, Ethan Coward, Isaac Buzbee, Christian Michael, and James Rowe, all 9th graders. 👏🏻🏆 #GSDexcellence

I’m very proud of all our state wrestlers! I’m ready to go to the medal rounds today. We have Farah Crossno in the finals and Jorja Betts going for 3rd this morning.
This afternoon, we have Jonathan Martinez, Jarod Pace, and Bryce Williams going for the title and we have Jackson Witherington and Landon Rofkahr going for 3rd.

This morning administrators at Greenwood High School received an alert from a “vape detector” system which is mounted in one of the restrooms. This alert indicated a “gunshot sound”.
Greenwood Police Department and School Resource Officers responded and determined the detector alert was set off by a slammed door and that there is no threat to students.
We appreciate the quick response by the Greenwood Police Department and our School Security team to keep our staff and students safe. All classes have resumed normal schedules at this time.
School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 🚌🚌🚍
We appreciate our school bus drivers! They are always there to make sure that students go to and from school safely and on time. We appreciate their training, professionalism, and care for our most precious cargo! Thank you.
Congratulations to 5th-grade East Hills student Mason Thompson! 👏🏻👏🏻
Mason won 2nd place in the Arkansas Regional History Bee and 2nd place in the Arkansas Regional Geography Bee earning him invites to the National competitions in Washington D.C.
By placing in the Geography Bee he is also invited to the World Olympiad competition in Rome this summer.

Students at Greenwood Freshman Center took part in a Career expo today! The day began with Keynote speaker, Tyler Wilson, 2008 Greenwood graduate, Arkansas Razorback All SEC Quarterback, former NFL Quarterback, and President of Cirrus Investments.
Today is School Resource Officer Appreciation Day and we sure do appreciate our officers! Thank you for your service and dedication to our staff, students, and to the district.

Important Notice
Revised School Calendar for 2023-24
Due to a legislative decision that allows an earlier start date for the 2023-24 school year, the Greenwood Personnel Policy Committee and the Greenwood School Board have voted to revise the previously released calendar for the 2023-24 school year.
The new calendar should have the words "Revised" at the top of the page.
Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday--for kindergarten through 8th grade ONLY 3:30-8:30

Dr. Josh Ray will be the new Assistant Superintendent for Greenwood Schools for the 2023-24 school year. Dr. Ray will replace current Assistant Superintendent, Suzy Wilson, who announced her retirement effective June 2023.
Dr. Ray is currently serving as Principal of Greenwood High School in his 17th year of education. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education, Master of Education, and Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University, as well as a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Arkansas. Josh and his wife, Sarah, have two boys, Hudson, who is a student at East Hills, and Harrison who attends East Pointe.
