The following statement has been released by the Greenwood Police Department this afternoon. We are incredibly thankful for our partnership with the Greenwood PD and everything they do to keep our schools and students safe each day. April 19, 2024 A Greenwood Police Department School Resource Officer was made aware of a Level 3 sex offender, Scott Allen Nell, that was trespassing on school property. After reviewing video surveillance from Greenwood Schools, it was found that the suspect was in fact illegally on school premises. The suspect has been arrested for failure to comply with the requirements of the Arkansas Sex Offender Registration Act of 1997 and the investigation is ongoing at this time. In conjunction with our School Resource Officers, School Security Officers, & School Administration— we will contact the parents/guardians of any students that may have unintentionally come into contact with the suspect. We would like to thank the Greenwood School District for their proactive & immediate response. As always, if you “See something, Say something”.

The month of April is designated as the Month of the Military Child. The Arkansas Council for Military Children has designated April 19, 2024, as Purple Up! for Military Kids Day. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to wear purple clothing on that day. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. All the service colors are represented and said to combine for the mutual benefit of all into the color purple. Purple Up!
